Like one of his errant passes, quarterback Derek Anderson sent a rocket at Browns fans he wishes he could take back. Anderson apologized to Cleveland fans Wednesday after calling them "ruthless" and adding they "don't deserve a winner" following his release by the team. Anderson was let go by the Browns on Tuesday, ending an uneven five-year stint.

Derek Anderson has been cut loose, Brady Quinn is reportedly being shopped to other teams and Seneca Wallace believes he has a legitimate shot to be the starter in 2010.
The Browns' quarterback situation continues to change by the day.
Wallace was acquired on Monday, which gave Cleveland the depth it needed to dump Anderson the next day to avoid a $3 million roster bonus due.
In Cleveland, Wallace is reunited with Mike Holmgren, who drafted him with Seattle in 2003. Wallace said in a radio interview that he believes he was brought in to compete for the starting job.
That could well be the case, especially if Quinn is indeed traded. In that case, the Browns would need to acquire another quarterback and/or draft the long-term answer at the position in...

Quarterback Derek Anderson's uneven five-year stint with the Cleveland Browns is over. The team released the one-time Pro Bowl quarterback Tuesday, one day after the Browns acquired backup Seneca Wallace in a trade from Seattle. Anderson made the Pro Bowl in 2007 when he threw 29 touchdown passes and led the club to a 10-6 record.
